Jul 30, 2014 - It does not need a separate driver for the GMA 3150 - just download and go! Device wise that's for the 945G (82945G), Mobile 945, G965, Mobile 965. Intel Display Adapter Management Tool and Intel GMA Reg Modder.
I recently came across this forum, and they offer a GMA9xx series modified driver for vista,7,and xp (xp has version 1.2) For example using the Vista Performance scale that goes upto 5.9 i went from 2.8 for desktop graphics to 3.0 and from 2.9 for gaming to 3.1 this driver allows for slightly better performance, and it does make aero feel snappier (i perfer vista on the 1024x768 LCD due to 7 taking up more space) And i have not tested it in games, yet, but it seems to help quite a bit. You have to register to access the downloads, but if people would perfer me to i will direct link the downloads here. From the forum: What to expect from modded drivers topic Modded Drivers consist of basically the installer inf file (igxp32.inf, igdlh.inf etc.) and additional supporting files (.sys,.dll files and also managing software). With this work you can change driver options like startups, hotkey actions activity etc. Also you can change your graphic adapters name in device manager if the need presents itself.
And the most important point of modding is that, you can mod drivers created for more extensive or more comprehensive cards to work on older GPU's (Graphics Processing Unit). For example: modding Intel 4 Series drivers to both stabilize and enhance performance for the 945 GPU. This can provide some advantages over original functions, especially in Operating systems such as Windows Vista. Modding trials have been operated by both volunteers and group members.
With every driver announced, driver files are being improved and expanded upon from the older versions. This means in theory that the newer driver, the better performance (due to the nature of drivers this is not a linear progression). Some issues may persist and even stem from the Modded Driver, but the trade off from Performance to Compatibility (Especially OpenGL) makes the transition truly worth it.

It can only be expressed as 'newer is better' and as newer drivers are released.well. The sky is the limit with the work we do here. So, here is a condensed list of what modded drivers bring: For Windows XP: FPS Boost in most games New Graphic Options Menu (Software Enhancements) No startups like hotkeys (optional) We've finally fixed OpenGL functions, so now you can keep the OpenGL compatibility you enjoyed with the original Driver Just as stable as the original, if not improved upon.
For Vista/Win7 FPS increase in some games (especially Source games like hl2, css etc.) Theoretically eliminates the usage of 3dA for rendering TnL as modded driver can emulate it via addgame.reg or the Display Manager Tool (Read Driver specific details) Improve the performance of shaders (mostly noticable with pixel shader) (Win7 only). However, modded drivers have yet to fix the following: For Windows XP: - No Hardware/Software TnL (950GMA) - No Hardware/Software Vertex Shaders (950GMA) - No Complete Shader Model 2.0 (for above reasons on 950GMA) For Windows Vista/7 - Full emulation of Shader models above in regards to what the hardware can handle.
